Suzette Velasquez Patton

Suzette Velasquez Patton is a Bilingual, Bicultural Mortgage Broker with Ideal Mortgage.  She has been a real estate professional for over 22 years and is currently a Mortgage Broker originator for 11 years.  Suzette values her Latino routs, and is regularly involved in activities to promote Hispanic homeownership.  Her volunteer activities include serving on the NAHREP Denver Board for more than 8 years, most recently as the longest sitting President, advocating for policies that promote affordable housing and Hispanic Homeownership. Suzette’s views on homeownership are based on her life and work experiences, and her immigration to the United States at the age of 12 from Caracas, Venezuela.  Although she grew up in a home with highly educated parents that were professors, Suzette’s parents never owned a home during her childhood. Not having had the stability that comes from homeownership, Suzette learned to be resourceful and dedicated through the many moves and school changes.  A passion for the stability that homeownership could provide her and her young family lead her to becoming a real estate appraiser, a license she still holds.  As a Certified Residential Appraiser, Suzette assisted attorney’s through forensic appraisal work utilized in support of class action litigation on foreclosure cases, eventually leading to changes in legislation in lending, appraisal practice and realtor ethics. A Mayoral Appointment exposed Suzette to the political process and the challenges involved in legislation which eventually lead her back to school to obtain her Bachelor of Arts focusing in legal studies, where she graduated Suma Cum Laude.  Suzette’s passion for becoming a force for positive change in the Hispanic Community found its roots in the legal profession, and in December 2018, she graduated with her Juris Doctor from Sturm College of Law. Although she rarely talks about her accomplishments, her children are often her biggest source of pride.  They have a sound financial education, and before the age of 24, three of them are homeowners.
